  My first memory of a construction site was as a young child, where my father would let me come with him on the weekends to a side project he had, and I would painstakingly remove the nails from walls that had been demolished (to this day, I don’t know if that was a helpful activity or if he was just giving me something to do). Looking back, I am extremely grateful they strongly encouraged me to go to college. After initially taking the law school route (my undergraduate is in Political Science), I discovered the Construction Management program in Colorado, where the head of the department took an instant liking to me because he thought I had a funny accent. My graduate school experience was the epitome of good luck and timing, as I would have undoubtedly finished law school, only to return to the construction site as a union pipe fitter (I actually signed up for Local 537 after school, but chose to stay on the GC side). I’ve intentionally had an eclectic career thus far, as every aspect of construction and real estate development fascinate me. From the engineering behind skyscrapers that touch the heavens, to the house flippers who can make a 25% profit after two months of rehab work, I absolutely LOVE building. I’m drawn to construction because the result is tangible, and the challenges are abundant. I love problem solving and feel at ease working with everyone from CEOs of public companies to local authorities having jurisdiction and the labor foreman in charge of the site gate. My approach of running a project is one where everyone is on the same team, and everyone wins when the schedule, budget and scope are executed properly. Outside of the construction site and work, I love to push myself physically through endurance races and triathlons. I also aspire to coach football and boxing. Family is also extremely important to me and the reason I work so hard. I spend as much time with them as possible. I can honestly say I truly found my calling with this industry, and I am ready to take on the next challenge with Tenacity, Energy, and Positivity. Hines
